We know that you might have questions about our wedding, and we've taken the liberty to break them up by questions you might have about lodging, the venue, and the ceremony itself.
About Travel
Where do I fly into Kanas City?
Kansas City is served by Kansas City International airport. (KCI colloquially, and MCI on airline abbreviations.) KCI was recently re-developed and how has over 400 flights per day with 50 non-stop destinations, per visitkc.com. The main drawback of KCI is its location. It's on the extreme northern edge of the city, and there is no efficient public transportation to or from the airport.
Can I get to Kansas City without flying?
Yes! Kansas City's Union Station is an active Amtrak station and a station stop for the Southwest Chief and the Missouri River Runner lines. Union Station is centrally-located just south of the Crossroads Arts district, and is also one of the prime attractions of Kansas City.
Kansas City is also fairly accessible by car, with I-35, I-70, I-29, and I-49 all meeting in or near downtown. That being said, this is the midwest, so there will be a lot of construction and seemingly random lane closures in the summer and autumn.
Do you have a hotel block?
We do not have a hotel block reserved for the wedding. However, under the Travel tab, we have listed a few hotels near our venue and can make suggestions on where to stay. Broadly speaking, we recommend staying in the Downtown/Crossroads area, or the Plaza/Westport area. Both are near our venue (below) and have good transit options to the rest of the city's attractions.
We do encourage guests to book hotels relatively early. The Royals are not likely to have home playoff games that weekend, but it is possible, and Sporting KC and the Chiefs have home matches on Saturday and Monday, respectively.

Where will your wedding be and will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?
We are having our wedding indoors, in the beautiful setting of Loose Mansion. The mansion was built in 1909, and is on the National Historic Register.

We will be holding both ceremony and reception at the same location.
Will I be able to park nearby?
Parking is convenient and free. Loose Mansion have arrangements with their business neighbours on evenings and weekends and have plenty of parking to accommodate our party.
For your convenience, an off-duty police officer and/or Loose Mansion staff will direct you as you arrive.
Is Loose Mansion wheelchair accessible?
Loose Mansion does have a wheelchair lift, but please let us know ahead of time so we can ensure a member of their staff can make sure you can access the building.
Is the venue non-smoking?
Our venue is fully non-smoking. There is no smoking allowed on the grounds or in the house. The House is a historic building made entirely of wood - please respect this restriction and help us maintain this beautiful property.

The ceremony will begin at 7 o'clock sharp. Please arrive at least thirty minutes before the ceremony so that you can be seated in time.
Are you having an unplugged ceremony?
Yes, we are having an unplugged ceremony. We have an experienced photographer capturing our day, and we want them to be able to have the best opportunity to capture photos. We will happily share our professional images with you after the wedding!
About our Reception
Where is your reception?
Conveniently, you won't have to go very far at all! We are having both our ceremony and reception at Loose Mansion.
What time is the reception?
After our ceremony, we will have a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres. After the cocktail hour, we will have a delicious buffet dinner, with dancing and more to follow.
What time will your wedding reception end?
The reception will end at midnight.
Will you have an open bar?
We will have an open bar until we run out of money—we have put a cap on the total cost! Once and if the total cost hits that limit it will switch to a cash bar.
There will also be a tip jar, and as two people who have worked in the service industry, we do encourage you to support the hard-working staff!

About You
I have a food sensitivity. How do I tell you about that?
When you RSVP, you will have the ability to tell us what we need to know so we can pass it along to our outstanding venue. We want you to be there and we want you to be able to enjoy our day.
By what date should I RSVP?
Please RSVP by September 5th. We want to make sure that you're included in our day, but we need to know that you'll be coming. You can RSVP either by post in the traditional way, or directly on our website.
About Us
Are you a bride and groom?
Well, sort of. Rachel is nonbinary, and does not want to be called a bride. Bandon is quite happy to be a groom. Together, they are nearlyweds until October 5th, where they will become newlyweds.
That said, Rachel is more than happy to be a wife (language is weird, okay?). Just remember that Rachel uses they/them pronouns. Bandon uses he/him pronouns.
What would you like to be called after you're married?
Lucky for us, some things aren't changing. Bandon will still be Dr Bandon Decker. Rachel will, however, change their name to Mx Rachel Decker.
Mx. is a gender-neutral title used in the same way as gendered titles like “Miss” and “Mr.” Like the singular “they,” it's used for people who identify as neither male nor female, or people who simply don't want to be identified based on their gender.
About Kansas City
What is the weather like in the area?
The weather in the Midwest is notoriously inconsistent year-to-year and very hard to predict more than a few days in advance. That said, early October tends to be a little more consistent than other times of the year.
The archetypical day is sunny and still quite warm, with highs in the upper seventies Fahrenheit, but a little less humid, with overnight lows in the mid-to-high fifties Fahrenheit. But don't be surprised if the temperatures are ten degrees Fahrenheit higher or lower than that, especially as climate change has meant the last few years have been more summer-like into October.
If you are coming here for more than a few days, pack options.
Do you have any recommendations for where to eat, points of interest, or things to do?
We do! Kansas City is a fantastic place and we highly recommend guests spend a few days here. We've compiled a ‘Things to Do’ tab on this website, of some of our favourite places and other attractions in the area, including places to visit before or after the wedding.
How do I get around in Kansas City?
Kansas City has done and is doing a lot of work recently to improve public transit and to make the city more bike/walk friendly. The bus and the streetcar are both free, and the latter is usually the best way to get around downtown and the crossroads.
Unfortunately, Kansas City was built as a car-first city, and for a lot of things—including almost anything outside the north-south corridor going from downtown to the Plaza area—the best way to get around is going to be by car.
Regrettably, the streetcar will be out of commission for four weeks for some important testing (which we appreciate) but sadly, your best bet is to drive around Kansas City.
